THE SPY WHO
LOVED ME
1977

The extensive galleries for 1977’s The Spy Who Loved Me confirms how James Bond was back bigger and bolder than ever before. The stills capture the opening of the massive 007 stage at Pinewood studios by Harold Wilson (11 March 1916 – 24 May 1995), former Prime Minister of the United Kingdom. There are also images of actor Curd Jürgens (13 December 1915 – 18 June 1982) celebrating his birthday on the 007 stage super tanker set. Of note are publicity stills of Roger Moore (14 October 1927 – 23 May 2017) and leading lady Barbara Bach in the gardens of Pinewood Studios, Buckinghamshire, England promoting the Lotus Espirit as seen in the film. However, perhaps the most exquisite material is when Moore and Bach were photographed in the Egyptian desert near Cairo. Bach’s stunning cocktail navy dress with Swarovski crystals is a fine addition to the costumes of the film by designer Rosemary Burrows. Still photographer is listed as Bob Penn (8 May 1925 – 10 April 2002).
